REBECCA ANN EVANOVICH
I was born October of 1979 in Crown Point, Indiana while my father was in theological school.
After working in the ministries for a time, my parents decided to move their family of seven back to Iowa were they had been born and raised.
I started college to pursue a career in the medical field and was introduced to the arts through an elective Ceramics course. Having found a completely new world opened up to her, I jumped in with both feet.
I always loved to work with my hands, so ceramics was a perfect match. Horsehair rakuing and wood firing are the techniques that I love the most.
I credit my love for Horsehair rakuing to the use of horsehair and my love for horses. Also to the fact that the horsehair raku is a Native American technique and my grandmother was of Native American descent.
